In the five years to Q1 2018 average weekly earnings have risen by 7.1%, from €693.23 in Q1 2013 to €742.19.

The sector with the highest average weekly earnings of €1,229.13 (€63,908 a year) was the Financial, insurance and real estate sector.
In second place was the Information and Communication sector at €1,179.97 per week (€61256 a year) .
The lowest average weekly earnings of €325.18 ( €16909 a year )were in the Accommodation and food service activities sector and the second lowest was €484.25 (€25181 a year) in the Arts and entertainment sector.
Public v Private
Average weekly earnings in the public sector increased by 3.8% from €915.86 to €950.82 in the year to Q1 2018. (€49,442 a year)
Private Sector average weekly earnings increased by 1.8%, from €672.18 to €684.11 over the same period.
